Abdul-Wahad Youssouf started painting in his youth and has been painting for 30 years. He works primarily in oils in both abstract and realistic art styles. As a professional artist, he has organized exhibitions in small locations across Toronto over the last 15 years. Born in the Republic of Djibouti, the artist migrated to Canada in the 90s and is now a community member who lives and works in Weston-Mount Dennis. His body of work celebrates histories, the beauty of life in our dense urban society and his own personal truths that he holds dear to his heart. He strongly believes that the visual arts are a wonderful means to express oneself with unlimited freedom. This exhibition of exceptionally bright and colourful paintings gives us insight into the artist’s sheer joy in representing his emotional landscape onto canvas.
